Hip Hop heads usually enjoy an old fashion rap battle or a freestyle off-the-top of artists’ heads. Well, news personality and respected Hip Hop journalist Sway Calloway has set up a live battle for everyone to tune in to catch talented artists perform from their home.
On March 22, Sway took to Instagram to announce Bedroom Bars calling artists from rappers to singers from around the world to join him for an Instagram Live. In the video presented, he wanted to bring the culture together during this time of COVID-19. And there’s no better way to do this than to have his special co-host be his daughter Kiyomi Calloway, who helps him judge several artists that stop in.
Bedroom Bars allows new artists to expose themselves on a live platform, as they use their beats to rap or sing on. To give everyone a moment to shine, rappers are limited to 16 bars and are expected to give their all during that time.
During these lives, you can find people in different rooms or places ready to drop their bars for Sway. You can even find well-known artists stopping by to either rap a few bars or just catch up with Sway and his daughter. Fabolous, Dee-1, D Smoke and Russell Simmons have been some established talent to check in with Sway recently.
Sway is known for having rappers as guests stars on his morning show, Sway in the Morning, to freestyle off-the-top of their heads for him. The freestyles have also been known to go viral, and it’s noticeable who Sway gives his Hip Hop respects to, so it’s a must to be prepared.
Bedroom Bars can be found on Sway’s Instagram @Realsway. Tune in every Tuesday and Friday at 7 P.M. EST and 4 P.M. PST to check out the talent, or possibly get your time to shine.
