Early morning, this past Thursday, the world received crushing news that Chester Bennington, 41, had committed suicide at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A County. The singer was found upstairs by an employee the morning of the suicide, we were also informed that the singers family was out of town during the suicide. Bennington was married and had six children.
Chester Bennington is known for being the lead singer of Linkin Park, Bennington struggled with drug and alcohol abuse for years. The lead singer also mentioned that he had thought about committing suicide, due to the abuse he received as a young child. Chester Bennington had stated he was abused by an older male while he was growing up, which is the main reason of his substance abuse. “When I was young, getting beaten up and pretty much raped was no fun,” he told The Guardian in 2011. “No one wants that to happen to you and honestly, I don’t remember when it started.” Bennington added, “I remember that stuff happening to me at that stage and even thinking about it now makes me want to cry,” he said. “My God, no wonder I became a drug addict. No wonder I just went completely insane for a little while.”
Unfortunately, Chris Cornell who also committed suicide, by hanging himself back in May and he was close friends with Chester Bennington. The news of Bennington’ s suicide brought an outpouring grief among fans and celebrities as the date of Chester Bennington’s’ suicide fell on the birthday of Chris Cornell. Cornell’s wife, Vicky, tweeted out a message following the news of Chester’s death.

Linkin Park found success in 2000 with their debut album “Hybrid Theory” with Bennington’s heartfelt vocals leading the way it turned out, that voice, that spoke to thousands was fueled by anguish. The rock band enjoyed crossover success with the 2004 mash up “Numb/Encore” which combined their song “Numb” with rapper Jay-Z’s “Encore.”
