Are Crocs making a Comeback?
Yes! Yes, they are! Now I know what you may be thinking, why Crocs? How could this be? Crocs have always remained in high fashion on the runway, for certain looks. It’s not until recently, that the brand has collaborated with other unique companies to make a more modern looking Croc. Shoes such as Alife and Balenciaga have made Crocs more versatile, call it wonky, some call it stylish and fashionable.
The company is targeting young teens. They call them the “Explorer’s”, because the brand knows that most of these consumers are what they call “dudes” and the Gen-Z generation is just young enough to not remember the first time the shoe was trending.
The brand has paired with celebrities such as Post Malone and Drew Barrymore. Drew helped create the collection for her family with concentration on her two daughters. Post Malone has always been a fan of crocs, and allegedly his first pair were yellow with little demon emojis. Malone’s shoes retailed at $60 and sold out within ten minutes!
Did you know that originally Crocs were made to be boating shoes? The brand has seen mass success with the new younger generation. Some high fashion Crocs even retail at $600! Although, Crocs haven’t made quite as much as in its hay day about a decade ago, they have seen a surge in sales! Sales have grown 4.7%, a $328 million dollar quarter compared to previous sales a year ago.
“We know this group is all about self-expression, which is why our spring 2019 collection features a bright, bold color palette, positive messaging, oversized logos and trend-right platform silhouettes,” explained Michelle Poole, senior vice president and chief product and merchandising officer of Crocs.
Call it what you want it, but Crocs are in! Try the trend for yourself or whip out your old pair and feel the nostalgia. Crocs are not only trending, but are so uncool their cool again!
