Hajara Benjida, an artist from the Netherlands, and rapper Young Thug have announced they will be opening an art exhibit opening during Art Basel Miami that will display juxtapose with similarly composed historic paintings. Benjida started her very popular Instagram account “Young Thug as Painting” age back in 2016, where she makes Young Thug painting comparisons. Young Thug’s record label 300 Entertainment and imprint Young Stoner Life will sponsor the exhibit.
The installation can be viewed at the SCOPE Art Fair in Miami Beach from December 4th through December 9th. It will feature several Young Thug photos matched with notable, classical and Renaissance artwork.
Benjida spoke to FADER in 2016 and explained that the “Young Thug painting account was started as a school project. “Besides the fact that he is walking art and that I’m a big fan of him and his work,” Benjida said. “I actually had no idea what to do for a school project and this was one of the first times we didn’t actually have to take photos for an assignment, and the lazy person I am I really took my chance on this one.”
