Now that I got you….Should men splurge on first dates?

 

 

Ever heard the saying ,”What you did to get me is what you have to do to keep me?” Well this is a PSA to men: When taking a woman to a restaurant on a first date, don’t offer a crustacean life style while you are on a burger budget.

The dating phase of a relationship can be uber exciting. It is arguably the most essential to the foundation of a potential union. The right outfit, fragrance, and even the ambiance of the actual date all matters.

Assuming the first date is at a restaurant, their are certain females to be expected. You have the girl who refuses to pay for anything and the girl who pays for herself. As a man, you foot the bill. Although the intentions of the man would be to make a good first impression, he could also be creating a monster in a future relationship.

If you are not about that life, do not splurge. For women, one of the most important characteristics of a future boyfriend or husband is consistency. I’m a traditional girl in a liberal world, so I prefer the man to fully organize the first date. At the same time, I always prepare myself for possible foolery or frugality so I bring my card for myself as well.

When the relationship is serious, men are expected to provide that same generosity as that gesture of chivalry is probably what propelled the romance in the first place.

On the contrary, I’m not advocating for gold diggers. If there is a collaborative effort to determine a dating place, I don’t think women should offer up ideas of places to go if they can’t afford to go by themselves. Meaning, you have to match what you are attracted to.

Although I think it is best for both parties not to go into dating with any huge expectations, I do think  some things like the budget of the date should be established in private by the man. Men should think of it as an investment that they want a return on.  By Investing quality time, feelings, and money, the only thing that will surely return is the girl. The key to having a great first date is being simple and creative. Whether you are going to a small bar, restaurant or an art museum, make sure your feelings for that special someone matches your wallet.
