Earlier this morning, ESPN reporters Adrian Wojnarowski and Chris Haynes reported that the San Antonio Spurs came to an agreement to trade all-star swingman, 2x defensive player of the year, and Finals MVP. Kawhi Leonard along with Danny Green to the Toronto Raptors for all-star guard, DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl, and a protected 2019 first-round pick.

There have been rumors all summer that Kawhi wanted out of San Antonio for how they handled the situation regarding his right quad injury. The rumored teams for Kawhi have been the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers. The fact that the Raptors came out of nowhere to swoop up arguably the second best small forward (behind LeBron) when healthy is surprising, to say the least.
Chris Haynes came out and said via Twitter 6hrs ago that Kawhi has no desire to re-sign with the Raptors which makes this move idiotic if these reports are true.

The Raptors are clearly going all in this year by trading away their franchise player and a man that embraced the city of Toronto, DeMar DeRozan, for a player who is reportedly dead set on playing for a team in Los Angeles. Was a major shakeup necessary after getting embarrassingly swept by LeBron and the Cavs for the second time in three years? Absolutely! Time will tell at the end of the 2018-2019 season if going all in for one year in a LeBron-less with a player not under team control beyond next season was the right move.
