LL Cool J is one of hip hop’s legendary favorites. He gave the world great hits on the radio and still knows how to entertain the world today. Recently, SiriusXM gave LL Cool J his own channel called ‘Rock the Bells Radio’ airing on channel 43. This channel will consist of classic hip-hop music, interviews, and other great content artists like Snoop Dogg, Outkast, Ice Cube. He created this channel because he felt like old school rappers and music were not getting a good amount of attention.
“There are so many artists who are the foundation of this culture, but it seems like they have been marginalized and pushed to the side if they’re no longer on the pop charts. I felt like hip-hop has a story and a lot of founding fathers and mothers that the world should know. … People know Run-DMC and myself, but there were people before us.”
Hip-hop music from the 70s, 80s, and the 90s will be played as well as unheard and new material from these past artists. Live from a roller skating rink in Los Angeles, LL Cool J’s Rock the Bells Radio was aired on Wednesday. LL Cool J felt classic hip-hop needed leadership and organization. “It needed someone to step up and say, “Hey this music is dope, people love it, and want to hear it. But it has to be presented in a dope way and treated with the respect that it deserves.”
Even though this is his radio station, LL Cool J plans to even play diss records that were aimed at him. He states this radio station isn’t about him, it’s about the hip-hop culture.
Much respect to the Queens rapper trying to let the world know where hip-hop started and who helped build it.
Tune into channel 43 of your SiriusXM radio station to hear the newest channel Rock the Bells!
