Nicki Minaj last blessed the culture with an album in 2014 with The Pinkprint. That album went on to go certified platinum and outside of guests features and singles that came and went on the charts, it’s been quiet for Nicki Minaj sonically. But a lot has changed since Nicki was last on top of the world and was the undisputed Queen of Hip-Hop in 2014. Cardi B is now a certified star in Hip-Hop and Nicki had to weather the storm of Remy Ma’s ShETHER diss track.
But now, after numerous album delays, here we are with Nicki’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, Queen. The album is jam-packed with guests features from artists such as Lil Wayne, Ariana Grande, Future, Foxy Brown, Eminem & Labrinth, the Weeknd, and Swae Lee of the Hip-Hop duo, Rae Sremmurd.
Nicki also isn’t pulling any punches with this project as she has taken shots at some of Hip-Hop’s elite male figures on this album such as Drake, Meek Mill, Eminem, Future, DJ Khaled, 50 Cent, Desiigner, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, YG and The Game. One song in particular on the album that has Twitter going crazy is Barbie Dreams which is a track inspired by the late great Notorious B.I.G’s track “Just Playing (Dreams)”.
