Kendrick Lamar is here to claim the throne yet another week with his new unapologetic single, Humble . The single dropped Thursday evening and it was released alongside a new visual directed by TDE President, Dave Meyers. The video and lyrics gave fans a lot to talk about in regards to Kendrick’s attitude being anything but humble in this new release. But also, this is the Kendrick we’ve all been yearning for since his controversial verse on Control.
The video contained lots of rich imagery and it opens up by Kendrick being shined on by a beam of light while being dress in papal garb from head to toe. The video jumps from scene to scene and skips over according to the beat of the music. Through it all, there’s a lot of religious references like the scene where Kendrick mimics “The Last Supper”. We can all deduct that Kendrick views himself as the King of rap and will come for anyone who tries to take his throne.
According to his single, The Heart Part 4 , which was released last week on March 23rd, we are due for a Kendrick Lamar album next week. The album is scheduled to come out on April 7th. This will be the first project we’ve heard since the release of his 2016 Untitled Unmastered album. From the looks of it, Kendrick is coming back stronger than ever. He will also be headlining for Coachella next month. April should be a big month for the rapper indeed.
