There’s a trend in the fashion industry that exist but doesn’t need constant mentioning, and that is “what’s old becomes new again”. The same holds true in Hollywood as well. The biggest trend in Hollywood is remakes and reboots of popular film franchises. The next movie franchise to embark upon that trend is The Matrix franchise.
In 1999, Keanu Reeves (Neo)was the face of The Matrix franchise. Fast Forward nearly 20 years later, and rising Hollywood Star, Michael B. Jordan is in talks to be the lead character behind the revival of the iconic Sci-Fi film franchise.
Michael B. Jordan has made a name for himself in films such as Chronicle, Fruitvale Station, and Creed. Whether or not he would serve as the new incarnation of Neo remains to be seen , but MBJ is a solid choice to take on the lead character role for a new generation of Matrix fans.
Warner Bros. studios is currently in talks with screenwriter Zak Penn to come up with a story that will help the studio identify a clear direction in moving the film franchise forward. There is no word on the involvement (if any) the Wachowski sisters (Lana and Lily) who co-wrote and produced the original trilogy will have with the reboot of the franchise.
